What can we discover today!
I’ve
been trying to decide if this blog is just a rambling online diary, or if it
has a purpose, a focus. This blog,
not unlike my life, seems to meander from interest to interest, not settling
down for too long on any one thing.
I’ve been reading online lessons on how to blog, and today’s lesson was
on narrowing the focus. Decide
what it is I have to say. What is
my focus? What is my theme?
My
life, too, is suffering from the same difficulties. I want to be a writer.
I want to be a teacher. I
work in retail sales. I am a new
Real Estate agent. I studied
biology in school. I studied
Spanish in school. I am half way
prepared to work in various fields but to do well, I need to choose one, narrow
my focus, learn and grow in that field.
Homeschooling
was perfect in that I had the passion to learn and to teach, I loved my
students and my fascination in learning a little about a lot of things served
us well. I had the ability to
teach in an introductory way many subjects, from music to science and history,
to nature and Spanish. I could
tickle their interests, and we could learn together as needed.
Unfortunately
this does not translate well in the real world, the world of grown ups,
careers, bills and future plans. I
like a lot of things a little bit, but no one thing a lot. At least in this blog I have a little
more freedom. If I have to choose
a focus, it will be: What Will We
Discover Today!
Life
without discovery seems dull, grey, and bland. In whatever career or direction I choose to follow, there
will always be things to learn and discover. In the wide focus of the blog, or the more narrow focus of a
career, discovery and growth is still a choice.
I plan to write a series on Discovery, and the joy of simple discovery in our own backyards. Stay tuned. Share below in comments your joy of discovery, or how your life has meandered.
