Time to write again!
I hope this photo is not a metaphor for my writing! Took this photo on a hike near Huntsville.
NaNoWriMo is here again! I am very thankful for this website, or group, or activity, or whatever it is called. If it wasn't for NaNo, I'm not sure I would have ever finished writing a story. I have been writing for the entirety of my literate life, but I have never written "The End," until now.
I didn't achieve this goal in November, but that is not the point. The point is I discovered I could follow an idea from start to finish, to editing, to rewriting, to being fairly happy with the product. Now I have to figure out what one does with finished stories. I would love to share them with people that enjoy reading. When my children were little, nothing was more fun than telling a story, and watching as their eyes twinkled. When I could see they were involved in the story, and they cared about what happened, then I was happy.
Better metaphor in that I hope to reach the top of the mountain with my dreams someday.
Last night I ordered a book that will help me find agents. I will write a synopsis, and cover letter, and send my little projects out into the real world. It is possible no one will like or want these stories. That is ok. Well, not really. I would be sad. But, it is silly to write, dream and create a world, only to hide it in a box in the attic, or in a file on the computer. Either way the stories would only gather dust, with no chance for eyes to twinkle.
Click here for the synopsis of my first finished story, and here for the first finished and maybe publishable story, and here for the one I will be working on this month.
